There are many offers that promise cash cows which will earn for you some continuous profit, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These fully automated web businesses act like round-the-clock salesmen. They will sell what you have to offer even when you’re walking your dog or even while you’re sleeping.

But the process of establishing automation is not a, well, automatic thing.

You need to realize that doing business online entails a lot of processes, and each of these processes will have to be ensured before automation can be achieved.

I have broken down the essentials of automation below…

The Sales Page

The heart of your automated online business should be your sales page. If an automated online business will be your 24/7 salesman, then the sales page is the embodiment of the salesman himself. A sales page, being a website that is perennially hosted on a web server, will be accessible to each and every person who wants to view it, regardless of the time of the day, regardless of the day of the week.

Some people who are really interested on what your sales page can offer will be looking for it. But you must make sure that your sales page will be easy to find. Otherwise, it will just collect digital dust in the deepest recesses of the World Wide Web. How can you ensure that your sales page is easy to find? Here are some tactics you should seriously consider:

* Search engine optimization. By making your sales page easy for the search engine spiders to find, the same will figure prominently in relevant search engine queries. Search engines can generate as much as 80% of the visitors you will ever be able to garner for your sales page.

* Article marketing. By regularly – yes, REGULARLY – submitting articles to the many article directories in the web, with each article containing a resource box that has a link to your sales page, you’d be able to win more visitors for the same, and you’d be able to build a lot of back links for the purpose of off-page SEO.

* Link directories. This is similar to article marketing, but it entails submitting a link to your sales page in the many link directories on the internet.

* Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. By pledging a weekly budget with a PPC program of your choice, a link to your sales page will automatically appear in a prominent position with every relevant search engine query. You’d have to pay every time a visitor clicks on your ad, however. The trick lies in writing your ad in such a way that will attract only the people who are interested in purchasing your products.

There are more strategies, of course, but these are the most popular ones. The good thing about them is that once their seeds are planted, they will continue to generate for your sales page a lot of visitors, and this will last for many, many years. Indeed, they’re perfect for the automation we desire.

Payment Processing

To automate your online business, you’d have to subscribe to the services of a payment processor. The way it goes is like this:

sales page --> payment processor --> thank you page

If your sales page’s readers decide to purchase your product, they’d simply have to click on an “order” button that will lead them to a specific page created by your payment processor. This is where they can pay. Once they have paid, they’d be led to a Thank You page hosted in your own server.

Your payment processor will collect all the payments due for you. You can withdraw the accumulated funds at a latter time, if you wish.

Some payment processors that you may want to consider are www.PayPal.com and www.2checkout.com .

Instant Delivery

You’d need to establish a way by which the products you’re offering can instantly be delivered to your customers. This can be done by including a download link of the said products in your Thank You page.

Since your customers will only reach your Thank You page after paying for the items, you can rest assured that the process is secure. By providing the download link in your Thank You page, you won’t have to manually deliver the items anymore. Hence, you can have a business that sustains itself, and one that is perfectly capable of processing and delivering a sale on its own.
